Category: How-to Guides

OCL Nitro Cold Brew is ready to serve, but a few simple steps make it taste and look its best. Follow this guide for the right pour, glass, and temperature.

Quick answer

Serve OCL Nitro Cold Brew well chilled and pour it hard into a clean, dry glass to release the nitrogen and build a creamy head. Drink it fresh, without ice, so the texture stays velvety.

Why the pour and glass matter

Nitro cold brew gets its signature cascade and foam from dissolved nitrogen. That texture is fragile: warm temperatures and a gentle pour both cause the gas to escape too early, leaving a flat drink. A hard pour into a dry glass creates the turbulence needed to form the rich, cascading head.

Avoid ice. It dilutes the coffee and chills the glass unevenly, which can knock down the foam. If you want a colder serve, chill the can and the glass instead.

When a nitro pour is not practical

If you are serving a crowd or do not have a clean glass, you can still enjoy OCL Nitro Cold Brew straight from the can. You will lose the cascade and some of the creamy head, but the coffee itself is the same. For the full experience, take the extra minute to pour properly.

Step-by-step serving guide

  1. Chill the can thoroughly: Refrigerate the can for at least 4 hours, or until it is well chilled. A cold can holds nitrogen in solution better than a cool one. Do not leave it in the fridge for just a few minutes—plan ahead.
  2. Use a clean, dry glass: Choose a sturdy glass that holds at least 12 ounces. Rinse it with cold water and dry it completely to remove any soap residue or dust. A wet glass can water down the coffee and kill the foam.
  3. Open and pour hard: Open the can and immediately pour it straight down into the glass from a height of about 2 inches. Do not tilt the glass; let the coffee hit the bottom to create turbulence. A slow, gentle pour will not activate the nitrogen—pour with confidence.
  4. Let it settle, then serve: Wait 30–60 seconds for the cascade to finish and the head to form. Serve immediately, without ice. Drink it within a few minutes; the foam will fade as it sits.
